Moving on...
Moving on...
Got the call today, I'm moving on to Iridium Satellite Systems. A fairly decent jump in base pay, a very decent jump in bonus's, AND it includes stock options (they must vest before you can use them, vested after 3 full years w/ company). Simply put, after the base and bonus are added up, it's NEARLY $20K/year more. The insurance is more expensive, and not quite as good, but by my math, it'll cost me ~$5K a year more out of pocket. >$10K in profit. Plus stock options. And full time work from home w/ Iridium. And no end user support at all. And 95% linux w/ only a modicum of having to deal with Windows. It's kinda left as a no-brainer.

Re: Moving on...
March 7. My final day @STC is going to be March 2, so that I have a couple extra days off before starting the new job.

That would be a good time to get a Ferrari and go on a nice road trip.

They have satellite offices around the world, but the main office is located here in Tempe, AZ.

Re: Moving on...
Yes, I will be the official onsite support for hardware. So any drives die or such on any of the virtualization hardware and I'll be the one doing the replacements. And I'm guessing I'll be given a seat in the building when it's rebuilt (currently I was told it's been completely stripped out except the data center and the control room for the data center for remodeling) in order to do the hardware support, but I don't know for sure.
