Ads in Windows 11

Post by crosscourt »

Win11 has quite a few ads now pushing various features, apps and even games, including things like the Xbox game pass. Windows Teams, Editor, Office 365, new Outlook, CoPilot and many others are now popping up. Some Ive been able to mitigate but others are just a pain. Win10 isnt a stranger to this but you see them far less often. In all the years Ive used Windows this is the worst Ive ever seen in regards to Microsoft pushing apps and features.

I avoid using Edge and Outlook. I use Firefox and Thunderbird so its not going to be an issue. In fact AI is already around all of us, in search engines in particular. Thankfully CoPilot can be turned off or disabled to prevent issues.

It is possible to disable CoPilot in Edge in the settings/sidebar.

As long as they stay with Edge and dont try to infringe further into Win11 it should be ok. Win12 thats going to be interesting.
