Nobara Project 37 released- Fedora even for Fedora haters

Post by crosscourt »

Just as we saw distros like Gecko LInux that simplified and fixed many of the issues with OpenSUSE. making it more accessible to all levels of users, we now have that for Fedora. Nobara 37 is Fedora with everything both mainstream and advanced users would want without all the issues many have had with Fedora. Better hardware support including graphics drivers, Included codecs, and a better selection of available apps along with other tweaks to make the experience far more polished. In particular the Gnome version is quite the beautiful desktop to behold. Nobara automates many things and makes running a VM super easy. KDE and Gnome are both supported and it comes with the 6.0 kernel. In many ways it reminds me of what Mint did for Ubuntu and MX Linux for Debian. If you wanted to use Fedora but just hated having to deal with many of the user issues, limitations and having to add things you thought should be included by default, this is the distro you should try.

Nobara uses Calamares as the installer which is a great choice for most users. It includes some packages which will help content creators and gamers , including support for Windows apps. Its not heavy in wasted apps though so no one should worry its a bloated mess.

Heres a good article on Nobara 47 and it has a lot of advantages for gamers as Proton/Lutris are installed by default. Proprietary drivers are supported by default and many features are added to allow gamers and content creators to jump in without having to do a lot of up front work. It includes its own package installer and at first boot youll be asked what you want to do with codecs and drivers. They offer a highly customized Gnome DE, a more standard Gnome DE and KDE which can be customized as much as you like.
