What distros have you been testing recently?

Just used Foxclone to clone my MX Linux drive for my other Lenovos. It doesnt have the most recent KDE but has everything else with great features, MX tools and is good resource wise.

Updated MX Linux 21.1 to the 5.19 kernel from 5.10 using the MX package installer. No issues at all with the change and given the age of the hardware, thats not always the case. Performance feels a bit faster since the change.

Debian SID got the update to kernel 6.0 today.

Excellent, I might see it fairly soon. I installed the 5.19 kernel from the MX repos thru their package installer. Really nice and clean way to easily install and remove kernels.

I got it on my T14 G1 today. So far on Debian from the 5.18 kernel...it's nothing really to write home about. But there should be some EXTREMELY minor improvements in graphics on the Vega for it.

Im more interested in the better security with newer kernels and in some cases better microcode.

6.1 will be a hugely important release as it's where Rust starts getting integrated.

Are there a lot of devs using Rust right now versus C?

Overall, I think it's mostly a push because Rust is just so much EASIER than C. And such as, there were 4 vulnerabilies in linux wireless networking that were announced today, all 4 were introduced because of errors in the C code that were merged in the 5.1/5.2 timeframe, and weren't caught until recently. Rust will make it easier to avoid these errors. That's the primary motivation I've heard towards moving the kernel towards Rust.

MX Linux is a winner so far and after getting all my apps in like FreeOffice 2021 which is in the MX repos along with OnlyOffice Im good to go.
