I'll test PCLOS on this new laptop, and if it doesn't work (or I just don't like it) I'll go Fedora. I do wanna try to keep 1 RPM distro active.

Ive been using PCLOS on both my E6420 and Dell 7010 with no issues and the recent updates solved the few minor issues I was having.

I have, historically speaking, had horrible issues getting PCLOS to work with my hardware. Generally, I think I just use too new hardware for PCLOS. But this isn't exactly new (although not ancient by any means), so maybe it'll work.

PCLOS is using the 5.1.5 kernel I believe so you shouild be fine. They dont upgrade the kernel and let the user make that choice except for major new releases.

The Mageia 7 RC was quite good and far better than OpenMandriva so waiting for the final so I can run both PCLOS and Mageia 7.

ROSA really runs well on the E6420 and its overall feature set enhances many aspects of using the laptop. Definitely the best RPM distro and possibly one of the best KDE distros in general.

Overall I agree. I'm tired of running it since they constantly break Firefox's usability for me in their updates, but other than that, it is by far the best RPM distro.
