Kubuntu worked well for me yesterday and today. Took that laptop to work and actually did need to use it for...something. Updated with no issues and put to sleep while I worked on other things, brought it out of sleep with no issues and shut down because I never got back to it and it was time to go. Used it for a while to watch netflix when I got home.

Glad its working out as your typically not a fan of anything Ubuntu. Kubuntu isnt bad at all and the issues Im having are minor but I expected more from the new version. Ive been playing with RPM distros all day and enjoying them a lot more than Kubuntu.

For me Kubuntu 18.04 is the first version of Kubuntu I remember using that's been MOSTLY hassle free. I don't use the "tweener" versions of Kubuntu usually, but I had used 16.04, 14.04, and 12.04. I know at launch 16.04 was just FULL of issues. MASSIVE problems. 14.04 had a stable desktop (KDE 4), but had boot issues on several different pieces of hardware. 12.04 had an early enough version of KDE 4 that it was...to be kind...garbage, when it was released.

Same here as my experiences with Kubuntu have been mostly terrible in varying degrees. Other flavors Ive had good experiences with overall.

All the recent updates have pretty much solved all the minor issues. Kubuntu is running very well and I actually like it better than Neon but Neon 18.04 hasnt launched yet.

I'd say I still prefer Neon just because it's on a newer version of Plasma still, but it has improved a lot.

If Neon was 18.04 Id rate it better than Kubuntu but its still 16.04 for the moment.

True, but I'll take a 16.04 base with Plasma 5.13.x over 18.04 base with Plasma 5.12.x

Kubuntu ended up working very well with my Dell E series pro3x dock which doesnt seem to like XFCE and Mate at all.
