I do not know enough about init managers to have an opinion. BSD has used SystemV for 40(+/-) years and they seem pretty clear that they will not change. I am not sure there even any different options for BSD. Linux has spawned several different init managers and right now systemd is the most popular. I do not know what it is that supposedly makes systemd bad or what advantages there are in using something different. That is just a long winded way to say that if all you can say is that you do not use systemd for an init manager, you have not make a compelling case for me to switch.
