I gave FreedBSD 13 a try the other day. It is like installing a base install of Debian in that you need to add x-org, window managers, desktop environment, and wireless networking after you get the base installed. FreeBSD does have excellent documentation, online wiki like, or you can download a pdf manual.
I watched an install on fresh hardware on Youtube done by robonoggie. He seemed to like it, but as a die hard BSD user, he said he was going to try it for a couple months to make sure there were no surprises before he switched to it has a production machine.
