I have been playing with Pop OS for the last couple weeks. I enjoy the tiling extension they added to the Gnome Shell. I have not read the release notes on Gnome 3.38, but from what I have observed there is very little difference between it and Gnome 3.36. Right now Pop OS 20.10 is using 2GB of RAM with a half dozen apps open including a couple tabs in the browser (Gnome-Web aka Epiphany). It is a very smooth experience.

It is a smooth experience and resource usage really isnt that bad. Ive been playing with a number of Gnome 3/Shell distros. Pop OS has become fantastically popular among users and has become a substitute for Ubuntu for many. Ive not noted major differences between 3.38 and 3.36.
