I actually built a .deb package for a q4os user this week.

Yeah, actually built it on a pure Debian VM (no X). First time I build a Debian package from non-debianized sources.

He seemed happy but he was still looking to drop some things that might get him into trouble, you might want to take a look.

Not shocked, he seemed like a typical windows convert with the "I just want to click install and have software work regardless of where it comes from". Honestly I just wanted to see if I could actually successfully build a debian package from non-debianized sources. They're right that building that software is SUPER simple, so figured if I can build it from anything, that's going to be what I succeed at!!

You did good and yes its tough trying to get the Windows converts to think a bit differently. I go through that everyday working with clients on the non-profit side.

I saw your post and had started doing the same but got interrupted, by the time I got back to it you had already posted the solution so I discarded mine.
