You can update from other 3.xx versions directly to 3.8 as the feature is included.

The 4.0 version coming in June will require a fresh install.

Upgraded from 3.6 to 3.8st night using Lite upgrade under settings in the menu. Click and the system will auto update you to the most recent version within the same series. 3.8 is the last of this series but typically I update my system before i upgrade to the newest version.

Excellent stability speed and most of the little annoyances are gone and the added tools for new users abound, making simple tasks once done in CLI, one click affairs in Linux tweaks.
Good distro for older hardware as it uses around 250-270mbs at GUI.

It appears all the annoyances in 3.6 have disappeared. I originally had issues trying to use their software updater, and a few issues with laptop keys.

Thats been fixed and the documentation has been improved as well as the newbie friendly welcome screen.

My hope is with the 4.0 version is they will include more basic tools for new users in a tool area to make it easier to find.

Reporting back as my long term testing has been great, very stable. All the annoyances are gone and its one of the nicest XFCE distros you can use and if your preference is Ubuntu based Id recommend this over Xubuntu.
