Didn't Want to Hear This....
Didn't Want to Hear This....
So, I went to see my orthopedic surgeon today. I haven't seen him in 2 years. X-rayed my knee, said it can't be "cleaned" up. It will be OK for 5-10 years, but then a complete replacement. He says giving me shots every 6 months, will keep the pain at bay. Plus, they won't replace it unless I'm almost in a wheel chair at my age....what a "trip" ....literally and figuratively...

Its so bad they cant do cartilage replacement or other repairs rather than a replacement? IPS cell research shows they can grow new cartilage so if you can last awhile you may have other options. The shots have a downside as they affect the joint in other ways than just reducing the pain.

I tried them 2 years ago, and after the 3rd time, they took over a month to kick in. He said I also have the "chicken comb" therapy to try also. If I can hang in there,,,perhaps other options will become viable. There's always the "saw" option...

IPS cell therapy has already been successful in clinical trials. Growing cartilage within the knee or adding it.

NHK has some excellent coverage of IPS research on their site. I watch their tv channel through my cable package.

Pain has pretty much left today. I can live with it like this. The Dr. said he would see me in 4-5 months. It all depends on how much I "beat" myself up. Being that I own a business, customers want there equipment fixed,so, I spent 7 hours standing on it in the shop yesterday, when I was supposed to be "resting"it....
Re: Didn't Want to Hear This....
Here's a kick in the head,or should I say the ankle...I got up yesterday, went to step out of bed,and had searing pain in my right foot(heel to be exact)..that shot the whole way up my leg, into my shin/calf area. I could barely put any weight on it,it was brutal. I limped into the living room, ang got to my recliner, collapsing in agony. I spent most of the morning just trying to put weight on it...to no avail. Finally was able to get to the kitchen, and get an ice pack out the refrigerator to rest on it. Then I remembered last year at this time,I'd had a bone spur in my heel, and had to have 5 shots of cortisone over 4 months in it to settle it down. Here i go again..doing all the walking for USPS flared it up again. I go Friday morning to see my Foot Surgeon.....UGH...!!!! It's Hell to get old.....

Id try icing it a lot before going back to shots for it. Unfortunately many people have to ahve surgery to alleviate bone spurs like my sister in law.
