I was reading this article this morning. While I think the author makes valid points, I don't see it happening. MS already is fairly tight in with Canonical, Canonical by far rules the linux desktop. MS knows that a lot of linux users will NEVER truly accept them. They'll continue a tight Canonical partner, possibly offer an Ubuntu customized by MS, but I can't see their current management releasing a standalone linux distro. Simply put, there'd be no money in it, and nothing to really gain.

Ill throw you a rumor that actually has a lot of reporting behind it but right now cannot be proven further, Microsoft intends to buy Canonical.

There may ne some articles on it soon from some well known tech sites but more facts are needed.
