The 20H2 update will not run on my new Dell E6440 laptop. It installs, but freezes when it updates. I added the updates using another system then tried to reboot on the E6440 but it almost makes it to the GUI but the screen goes black. Tried reloading the graphics driver but to no avail.
Troubleshooter doesnt see anything and the logs dont show anything either.
Tried a clean install of 29H2 and the same thing happens. Now that said this same install runs fine on a Dell E6430. Also updated the bios on the E6440 to no avail as thats been an issue with some systems.

They finally fixed the issue with Microsoft/Outlook accounts constantly saying theres a problem and wanting the pin number. Really annoying issue that could happen many times a day at times.

Installed the cent 20H2 preview update and had no issues at all on my main system. Very few new features but Meet Now was the most noticeable one.

Last group of updates went fine and so far the Microsoft/Outlook account issue has not returned. Theyve been releasing much smaller targeted updates rather than the larger more problematic ones.

No major issues recently which stuns me given how many problems Ive experienced prior to this month. Some hardware is still stuck on 1909 as original attempts to run 20H2 werent successful and MS apparently made that decision for me.

I keep working on getting my new(ish) X240 up and running well. I am getting closer. I have Windows 10 installed. I thought of it when I commented on Cinnamon desktop. Windows seems similar in that I find it not very attractive, and difficult to get work done in it. It is surprising it commands 85% of the desktop market. Lenovo provides excellent diagnostic tools for their machines, which no surprise run on Windows. When I get the X240 fully working to my liking the first thing I will do is find something I like better.

Windows 10 I like a lot better than Cinnamon but KDE for me is a lot easier to use. Being a long time Windows user before I got into Linux, KDE was always an easier OS to get use to and use.

Ive tried everything possible to get 20H2 to install on my Dell E6440 but it wont finish installing. I tried doing the upgrade direct from the media creation tool but it still locks up at 48% during final install.

I finally got 20H2 to install but it happened in a rather odd way. My Dell E6430 was able to install it without issues so I cloned that install to another drive and tried it on my Dell E6440 and what do you know, it worked fine. The issue appears to be the installer for 20H2. I upgraded my laptops from a Dell Win7 disk before going to Win10 so the clone made from the E6430 activated fine with the E6440.
This is kind of a stupid way to have to upgrade an OS but hopefully from this point things will be fine.
