Re: Windows 10 2004 update
Windows 10 2OH2 is still optional on my installs so Ive avoided it for now. Recent updates have been a pain and right now Im stable for the time being.

Installed 20H2 last night and no issues. If youve already got 2004 its a minor update that doesnt take long.

Re: Windows 10 2004 update
I had to download an installer image for Win 10 and 20H2 was the one that downloaded. There were not many Windows update for that image, but Lenovo had quite a few software items for download including a BIOS update. I downloaded Etcher to make USB installers for Linux distros. It crashes a lot. As near as I can tell there is not much you can do with Windows without a MS account.

Re: Windows 10 2004 update
Ive got my original OEM Win7 Dell disk so I install it on my Dell devices then install Win10 Pro, so Ive been able to do quite a few installs without issues.
How long they will allow Win 7 users to do this who knows.

The x240 was specially ordered with Windows 7. I assume that would take a special installer to install. I do not have that media. All X240s came with a Win8 Pro license, which is stored in the BIOS(?). That allows for 10 to be installed as well. I went with 10 mostly because it seemed the easy route.

Whatever is easiest and available. Dell provided dvds with Win7 on them that can be installed with any Dell device that has the proper bios mark.

Re: Windows 10 2004 update
Install the 20H2 update on my other desktop and there were some issues. Slowdown happened even after optimizing the drive and had to redo the drive again.

Appears some SSD users are having issues with the 20H2 update causing blue screens. Im using conventional drives so havent had any problems.

Re: Windows 10 2004 update
My wifes pc last night got stuck while updating and just sat their with the white loading circle and the mouse cursor. Ended up shutting the system down and rebooting and thankfully the system recovered and the updates eventually did install.

Re: Windows 10 2004 update
Microsoft announced it is not going to release anymore updates until 2021, unless something critical pops up. Looks like we get a breather.
