Windows 10 2004 update/20H2/21H1
Re: Windows 10 2004 update/20H2
Do you typically install the preview updates? I have just skipped them when they show up figuring a "final" version will be released at some point. My experience is that at some point updates will just bite you

Re: Windows 10 2004 update/20H2
I install the previews on my laptop and pc only and test them before I let my wife or any one else use them. Ive been lucky as I havent had any major or fatal issues with updates. The only one was the Microsoft/Outlook account constantly asks me to login to validate it. The preview includes quite a few fixes that were needed by some users but in my case it really didnt matter.
My guess is that people are highly customizing their systems in ways that create issues devs werent anticipating.

Bit of a flurry of upgrades recently given some security issues but so far nothing is broken.

Had a few issues with the most recent updates that affected hard drive performance but nothing as bad as reported from others, with printer issues and BSODs.

More updates and so far performance is fine with no other issues.

You appear to get more updates than I. Not complaining though. I installed Windows February 17th and over the next couple days 2 accumulative updates installed. Nothing happened from then until March 9th when another accumulative update installed. Nothing has happened since then. The accumulative updates happened without me even being aware they happened. (A restart happens at night and my only notice is a pop up in the morning.) Window security sends updates at least one a day they again download and install without me even aware they occur and they require no restart.

In my case some updates install on their own, others dont. I have a variety of older hardware so sometimes the newer updates arent offered or delayed and end up getting installed eventually. Sometimes I see updates for one system that are different from what my other hardware gets and that can be related to what Win10 version your running.

Reinstalling Win10 on my new Dell 7370 wasnt the smoothest process as coming from 1809 to 20H2 simple is a no go. Fresh install but updates were a killer.

I've long since stopped bothering to try to move up more than 1 version. If it's more than 1 out of date, I just make a new install USB from the latest version, and install from that. Saves a lot of time on the upgrades.

The problem I had is, the OS was on the 7370 when it was sold to me and you never know if everything is legit, its happened to me before. Its a bit safer to upgrade then once you see everything is ok, youre good to go for installing the newest version fresh with digital license down the road. In my case the updating from 1809 was bad as usual, so with no options I go to new version and see what happens,
