I have a ton of fonts I always add to my systems, but just throw the folder in /usr/share/fonts and do a fc-cache -fv. No bothering with opentype and truetype.

I rarely use any fonts that arent included already with the distro. I do install the Ubuntu restricted extras so i can use the Microsoft fonts which include truetype.
