Good read, although they're wrong about most rpm distro's using yum/dnf. There's actually very few outside of Fedora/RHEL and those based DIRECTLY on it that use YUM/DNF. More I know of use the Mandrake designed URPMI nowadays.

Agree as Im not sure why he made that comment about rpm distros. It is a good article and hopefully will help a few people understand more about the topic.

Synaptic for me has always been my favorite and i used it not only with Ubuntu based distros but also with Debian and RPM based distros like PCLinuxOS.
