Initial impression is good. Does seem slightly faster than 5.12, even on the rather humble hardware I have it on (N2940, 4 GB, 16 GB eMMC)

Doesn't really feel any different on that machine. Not that surprising, given that while it's nowhere near high end, it's far from low end as well (5300U 8 GB ram 480 GB SSD)

Just updated Neon and 5.13 seems faster than the previous version. Im running it on my Dell 7010 USFF so its not as fast as my main system but is still a good performer.

Ill play with it a bit and post back.

Ok right off the bat the menu issue i posted about has been fixed, works fine. Also noticed some other minor desktop theme issues have been fixed.
Resource usage seems to have improved just a bit, about 40mb with no change in settings at all.

One hard freeze at the login splash and after reboot ok. Neon and Kubuntu have been a bit of a pain as I havent had these issues with other KDE based distros.

Ok rebooted Neon, no issues and resource usage is 308mb, thats amazing. Thats comparable to most XFCE distros as MX17 is around 305mb.

With these numbers i couldnt see any reason to using XFCE given what KDE can do.

Yeah, given how Plasma basically has "everything and the kitchen sink" in terms of features, it's amazing how on a default installation, which while nowhere near having EVERYTHING turned on, has enough that it's no slouch in terms of features, they have managed to code it to be so very efficient now. I remember when 5.0 came out, half the stuff didn't work, it would use 800+ MB on the desktop, and it crashed every 20 seconds.

The only two boot apps i have turned off are bluetooth and touchpad and Im getting those numbers. One could argue that except for the really lightweight DE's you dont really need any other DE. KDE is lighter than Cinnamon and Mate.
