KDE releases Plasma 5.24.1

Post by tlmiller »

Not much new, mostly just a lot of fixes for bugs that missed the release version of 5.24. More can be found here.

My Debian machines are already updating to this, so huge thank you must go to Norbert Preining again, who had this ready before Arch despite his officially no longer packaging for Debian.

KDE Frameworks 5.91 was also released quite recently, for those wondering.

Well BSD updated to Plasma 5.24.0 today. Not the latest, but it is nice to see they are staying in the race.

That's a lot more up to date than I remember it being, so not bad at all.

Speaking of somewhat surprisingly updated, I re-installed my Void VM last night and Void already has 5.24.1.

I do not know anything about Void Linux, but I see it mentioned in BSD forums and material. From what I have read there it is considered the Linux that is most similar architecturally to BSD. It seems BSD picks up users from Void Linux and looses an equal number to Void Linux.

I really like the theory of Void. Runit is a FANTASTIC init system, xbps-* is a good package manager, and using xbps-src isn't bad (although would be much better if there was a more packages for it). But the lack of packages ultimately keeps me from being willing to use it on a bare metal system, there's just TOO MUCH that I prefer that's not available in it for me to enjoy using it.

You won't be able to tell the difference. There were a bunch of fairly big bug fixes in .1, .2 the bugfixes are much smaller and more niche issues.

I try it more to see if anything goes wrong, as rarely do the updates really show any change that can be noticed.
