Somewhat odd list. They have things like smplayer. SMplayer is not a standalone video player. It's simply a gui overlay for mplayer or mpv (I prefer mpv). Without one of those, it won't actually PLAY anything...

That small rant aside, pretty par for the course list of those apps that ARE actual players.

THey mention that about SMPlayer in the article but because many people see this app both to install and as part of some distros, I think they wanted to include it regardless.
