From what I have read the Pi 400 is noted for being reliable and rugged. It runs at 1.7GHz and from what I have read it can be over clocked to 2.2GHz, but I did not over clock it. My best guess is that the power management chip failed. In use it showed a processor temperature of 35-40C, which is not even close to hot. It is a drag. It was fairly new and as far as I know I was doing nothing out of the ordinary with it.

Hardware failures are so uncommon these days. My 7010 cpu socket issue was the first problem Ive had in quite some time and older hardware is slightly more prone to issues.

Flatpak software updated to Gnome 41. Along with showing those update, it shows an update for device firmware. I am not fully sure I know what that means. I booted back into Windows to check with Lenovo Vantage to see if they were showing any updates and it reported that my hardware drivers uefi etc are all up to date.

While firmware is just software, I have always thought of it as residing in a ROM or a FlashROM. The Pinebook Pro loads what it calls firmware from a file during boot, and for me that seems to just make it a piece of the OS. It is for the PM991 device, which is for PCIe NVME device. I was not clear whether it is for PCIe controller for controlling NVME devices or for the NVME itself.

Fortunately it is an update that has to be manualling installed and is not automatically installed. So I am going to hold off until I can get a better understanding of what the update does and why it is necessary and why does it not show up on Lenovo updates.

Just finished installing the new motherboard in the 7010 usff and all went well. The board was a very tight fit but it works fine.

Motherboard is working really well and no issues after installing it in such a tight case. The design of the 7010 is really well done given its size giving yu the ability to fix and upgrade many aspects of it.

Just ordered a Crucial MX500 2TB SSD for my Dell 5676 system. Win10 has really gotten bad with standard hard drives recently. It was so much better early on.
