Yeah, they had it off and on. The 9480 was one of the later ones that didn't generally have issues. I generally liked the laptop a lot. There were 2 interns, 1 returned it perfect, the other returned it completely bronzed, keyboard broken, and crumbs inside the actual body.

Toshiba was the company back in the old days that seemed to have a talent for burning up laptops.

Never got to use the old good toshiba's. We had a group that got Toshiba's in VZW when they were still toughbooks, but were these hideous, insanely plastic toy-like things that were ridiculously cheap looking, feeling, and running.

Given how underpowered those things were (I truly believe despite having Intel stickers, they were actually running fisher price cpu's, or maybe just Intel 8088 processors), I'm not sure that they could get hot enough to melt anything. There was nothing even DECENT about these things, they truly were some of the WORST laptops I've ever worked with. The poor guys that had to use them (facilities team) were embarrassed to have them, too.

They were crap but the the laptops that I remember ran very hot typically right under the center of the bottom of the laptop. God help you if you had it on your lap.

Going to swap out the standard keyboard on the E6400 for a backlit one today. Waiting for it to be delivered.

Neither backlit keyboard worked and it appears others have had this issue. One keyboard, one of the keys popped off and the method for holding it down doesnt allow for me to place it back as its damaged. Short of gluing it theres no way to fix it. That was a wasted effort unfortunately.
