Well, I couldn't resist. Despite not having $1000 to spend, I spent it on the Lenovo Thinkpad T14.
Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U
16GB soldered w/ 1 slot (16GB DDR4 3200 DIMM ordered from newegg for $50)
128 GB NVMe (1 TB NVMe setting on the kitchen table wating for it to arrive)
1920x1080 14" 400 NIT LCD (non-touchscreen)
Radeon Vega 7 IGP
Backlit keyboard
Only downside is that it'll be close to a month before it ships.

Well, technically it was too rich for me as well...I may have financed it to be able to afford it.

Re: What hardware are you using?
We just got my wifes pension payout and we paid off all our debts, so no financing for me. Going to keep the cash flow up and accumulate more funds.
My gaming pc was as high as I wanted to go last Christmas.

Right now other than my car (and now the laptop) I have no debts, so I was ok with financing something that wasn't TOOO expensive. Should have it payed off in ~6-7 months.

Except for our condo which we will sell at the right time everything is paid off including the car. We've got a nice six figure stash and right now Ive got five figures in savings. Ill stick to mostly older tech for now and keep my gaming pc going for as long as possible.

Re: What hardware are you using?
All my stash is in 401k, and has been hurt this year (most of it's in tech stocks, so taken a beating). But since I financed this I didn't touch my personal savings, and shouldn't need to since this is the time of year where my expendable money goes up $200/month due to my electricity bill dropping from $350 (summer AC nonstop) to $100 (fall/winter, no AC, no heat, just the exterior fans overnight to keep fresh air). Just the difference in usage from the 115's to the 100's has my bill going from $350 to $250.

Re: What hardware are you using?
Its interesting as I was reading an article about the best cheap used laptops under $100 and the E6420 was listed. Love these laptops and you can get them so cheaply and mine are in great shape.

Re: What hardware are you using?
Spent a lot of the weekend updating Win10 on my systems, two laptops and four desktops. It takes forever when youre not using the system and its nowhere near as fast as Linux.

I think I updated last month, so I'll probably just wait until next month to update mine. Unless some reason pops up that I want to play games before then...
