3825u was a weird chip. Called a Pentium, but wasn't BayTrail, it was actually Broadwell, and had full hyperthreading. For the early of the "U" series processors this was actually a REALLY nice processor for it's low price.

It is a bit of an oddy but the reviews of the 3825U were far better than I expected. Looking forward to using it and seeing how it performs versus the 3340 with its 4th generation i3.

It was dropped off today and its in excellent condition with Win10 already installed. I updated the drive, added my apps and cleaned up. Then I copued Win10 from the 128gb ssd to my 256gb ssd. I installed the new ssd and added ram to get to 8gb. The inside ofthe laptop looked factory fresh, it surprised me. Replaced the battery with one I had and updated the bios, which was from 2020. This laptop was sold 2015-2016 mainly and originally had Win8.
The Pentium 5th gen 3825u 1.9ghz performs very well and feels much faster than the 1.7ghz i3 cpus I have in the 3340. Really pleased with this laptop and even though the display is only 1366x768 it is noticeably better looking than the display on the 3340. I traded for this one but you can get them for $100 or less on Ebay.

For me, I'll admit the 1366x768 is a dealbreaker. I just can't take that resolution. I'm actually looking for a "classic" laptop right now myself. Thinkpad A485. Only Ryzen Thinkpad that had dual batteries. I had one for quite a while, and actually ended up getting rid of it just as all the MULTITUDES of BIOS issues it had when released were resolved. I kinda want one again, but hard to find them not overpriced right now...

Hard for me to think of a Ryzen laptop as classic but dual batteries is interesting. I updated to 21H1 last night and using the Windows update assistant is a really slow process.

I've noticed the same. I use the USB to update anymore because it's like 4x quicker.

Im impressed with the performance of this cpu given its odd heritage as a Broadwell-U. Overall performance of this laptop is faster than my 3340. They both use the same apps, same amount of ram and ssds. It mainly comes down to the differences in the motherboard/cpu.

Yeah, I always liked that chip. Was one of the "hidden" gems of that timeframe, that was sold at a price that it was honestly much better than.
