This was posted on Ars yesterday. It specifically talks about Apple and the M1 processor, but more generally covers task scheduling, covering differences between users perceived snappieness and actual throughput of a system. Also has some comparisons between x86 and ARM architectures.

You might want to mention in the title of the thread thats its about Apple's M1 which will also attract some traffic to the site.
