Re: What hardware are you using?

While it didn't ever kill itself, at my old job we had someone who had an ultrabook (HP Elitebook 9480) for 6 months. Not sure HOW she managed to so mistreat it so much in only 6 months, but when she turned it back in, the entire case had BRONZED itself from overheating so badly for such extended am...

Re: What hardware are you using?

For most mobile chips, they don't suffer damage until after 100* C nowadays. They have some VERY high tolerances for heat, given they know how they're likely to be used and the limited cooling most of them receive. However, obviously when the temps start going that high, there's other things that ca...

Re: SoftMaker Office 2021 free beta

I'll probably continue to use FreeOffice 2021 when it's released (a few to 6 months after SoftMaker Office 2021 if past releases are continued), but not sure about paying for the full SoftMaker still. Guess I'll decide based upon what the upgrade price looks like.

Re: What hardware are you using?

Yeah, the devs have been doing a really good job w/ KDE since the 5.12 branch was released. Who knows if they'll keep up being this dilligent to ensure that the code is actually tested and performs well, but at least for now, they deserve some major kudos for having put out some incredibly tidy and ...

Re: SoftMaker Office 2021 free beta

Yup. I like the fact that it handles the pivot tables correctly now, but just doesn't WOW me like 2018 did when it was in beta.

Re: SoftMaker Office 2021 free beta

I have found that it's MUCH better with pivot tables than 2018 was. Other than that I haven't found any major differences so far. To be honest, at this point I'm probably going to just abandon the paid SoftMaker office and stick to OnlyOffice/WPS Office/LibreOffice. The simple fact of the matter is,...

SoftMaker Office 2021 free beta

Office 2021 from SoftMaker is available as a free beta. You do have to register it, but will have a fully functional "pro" version of SoftMaker.

I'm testing on my Fedora laptop install and my Debian desktop.
