Re: What hardware are you using?

Up until about a year ago I stayed pretty ahead of the curve. With Dell Latitudes no longer coming with the E-dock port (as of the Exx80), I haven't bought anything new since that was released, and I don't foresee myself buying new again until I can get business systems with a ryzen mobile 5 or 7.

Re: The weather has been crazy

It does, but at this point, because of the no DST in Arizona, even with ALL the negatives, that one positive trumps them all. I hate DST that much. Until more states drop DST, I'll never leave Arizona unless it's a MASSIVE paycheck.

Re: What hardware are you using?

Not usually. I buy refurbed/used. I trowel Craigslist looking for good deals, I have an account to buy as a business with all the major OEM's (or did at one point, I think several have lapsed), and one of the linux forums I'm a long-time member of I supply probably half the regular posters with hard...

Re: The weather has been crazy

yeah, I grew up there, went to OK for the army, then went to MI for work for a while, and then moved out to AZ for work. With returning to MD between each for a few years. I also have worked down in Newport News for a while in 2016, which is actually what led to my leaving Verizon.

Re: Top 10 open source distros you havent heard about

True OS is BSD and in the top ten over at distrowatch.com, really dont know why as its not very good. I haven't used it in years, and doubt I'd ever try it again given how stupid the name TrueOS is compared to the original pc-bsd (which tells you it's focus AND what kernel & tools it uses in on...

Re: The weather has been crazy

I miss living back there. I grew up in Carroll County, MD, not far from Frederick County, so as you were getting close to the Appalachians. I enjoyed getting 4 seasons. Here in AZ, there's really 2 seasons, summer and spring. It's nice to be able to go out in the middle of "winter" and spe...

Re: Top 10 open source distros you havent heard about

TrueOS was really big in the news (open source news at least) for all the wrong reasons last year when they changed their name. Still massively dislike the new name.

Re: What hardware are you using?

I have an eclectic bunch of hardware anymore. I'm mostly a laptop user, having multiple Dell Latitutes, a couple Lenovo Thinkpads, an HP Chromebook (w/ mrchromebox firmware so full pc not running chromeos) and an Acer Aspire, along with my aging desktop. All of them work wonderfully with multiple di...
