Re: Windows 11 24H2 wont support pcs older than 15 years
Linux seems so very simple in comparison. :) I think that every time I have to do anything in Windows! I don't know about whether the sudo command works as you suggest, but my guess would be that it is only for WSL, but it is only a guess as I wouldn't install a Windows version of Linux anywhere :l...

Re: Windows 11 24H2 wont support pcs older than 15 years
I'm just happy to be able to buy behind the curve (mostly) hardware at great prices and enjoy Linux for many more years to come.

Re: Windows 11 24H2 wont support pcs older than 15 years
Given that Windows market share has dropped overall, we may see some interesting changes in the market, as consumers habits have changed. Chrome OS devices, smartphones, Apple OS devices and even Linux, are pulling away market share from Microsoft, both from the consumer and Enterprise markets. And...

Re: CPU temperatures
I have never worked on a mac before (and really don't want to) but have seen quite a few Youtube videos of others doing the work and they are almost definitely the worst machines to take apart, if this was a mac you worked on you have done a great job getting it all done and the fact everything is w...

Re: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will get 12 years of updates
Of course, the price of 12 years updates is that you have to sign up for Ubuntu Pro. Of course (right now) that is 'free'. If I were a gambling man I'd be betting that state of affairs will last 5 years, then the screws will start to turn. TANSTAFL! I agree, I think this would be a marketing strate...

Re: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will get 12 years of updates
Oh man you have the coolest toys. Good thing an ocean separates us or you would be sick of me stopping by to see them all in action. People have lots of approaches to getting done the things they want to do. For me the thrill is always more in the final product than the methodology used to create i...

Re: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will get 12 years of updates
To me it's yet another reason to stay away from the distro (and it's derivatives, as they by definition must follow suit) I much prefer to have the freedom to choose the software I have and how it is installed on my system, and so I feel that immutable systems by their very nature take away the most...

Re: CPU temperatures
I have a couple of different thermal compounds and they give different results and so the lesser used ones are not so good and I only really use them when playing with some peltier modules I bought out of curiosity.

Re: CPU temperatures
I haven't experienced any issues at all with my laptop since changing the LM but I treat all my devices with care, I think a lot of people just throw (exaggeration?) their tech around and of course due to the nature of gallium any excess would move, which is another point if the LM is applied "...
