Re: I got bored...

That claim of the last version did seem pretty dubious. When Mac released OS X they stated that they believed they had created a framework they could build on for the next 20 years, and they have been doing that, but a new version is released on a regular basis. Microsoft seems like they view the OS...

Re: I got bored...

I have always found it a bit amusing that on Linux some of the biggest gripping comes from delays in getting the latest updated versions. Seems like everyone is anticipating new features in new releases. On the Windows side of things though it seems the biggest gripping comes MS updating and changin...

Re: Kubuntu on the Pinebook Pro

Both Muon and Discover work alright. The part that I missed with Muon is that you need to specify every thing you need to make a working application. For instance Kontact by itself is simply a window that aggregates content from Kmail, Korganizer etc to be useful you have to make sure and install al...

Re: HALO EPISODE 1

From what I have read the conversion of video games to movies or series has not been a great success. I have a Tomb Raider movie, which is not very good. I watched a Doom movie and it also was not very good. I grew up in a family without TV and when I had my own family we tended to not pay much atte...

Kubuntu on the Pinebook Pro

Armbian decided to support the Pinebook Pro, posting two fully supported images. Both images are Ubuntu based, one has Cinnamon DE and the other uses XFCE. I gave the Cinnamon a try it works well, but I just do not like Cinnamon. I was able to install it so it boots from the emmc while /root is on t...

Re: NextCloud-updating storage?

Thanks for the info. I decided to give it a try, but then found I lacked the proper adapter to go from nvme to usb. I was sure I had every adapter known to man, but as is common I lacked the right adapter, so I had to order one. I run into the same problem with cables. I have boxes full of cables, y...

Re: Thinkpad X230 tablet

Overall there is very little change from the X220 to the X230. The i5 processor moves from Gen2 to Gen3. I think the processors run at the same clock speed. The biggest noticeable change is all the USB ports move to USB 3 and that makes a big difference in transferring data. Like the X220, the X230 ...

NextCloud-updating storage?

I set up a NextCloud instance on the Raspberry Pi at first just to see if I could and if it would be useful. And boy has it ever been useful and handy. I shut it down and did updates a few months back and there are updates available again. It is setup with data being store on an old and small nvme t...

Re: Fedora 36 beta released

The ostree version of Fedora 35 I use has worked exceptionally nice on my IdeaCentre. I am thinking of waiting until Fedora 36 and then install the KDE version (Kinote?) on the new to me X230 tablet/laptop. I really really like Gnome on the desktop setup, but I find KDE works better on the X230 with...

Re: Fedora 36 beta released

The full release should be here before the month is out and I am looking forward to it. I have Fedora Silverblue 35 installed on my desktop. It has been running flawlessly now for several months. If this update goes seemlessly I will probably remain a Fedora Silverblue user for a good long while.
