Re: Fedora 37. KDE and Wayland

No, it does scale by default. That's what I'm saying. It will scale almost every laptop display by default (I don't remember seeing scaling on desktops by default, it just goes to native resolution). You said they change resolutions by default, but that's not correct. It scales by default. It will s...

Re: Fedora 37. KDE and Wayland

Win10/11 actually want to scale by default. If I install it on almost every one of my laptops, the default resolution is standard, but it wants to scale the image to be large enough to be read from the ISS with the unaided eye with ease. Whoever designed the algorithm for deciding what the scale fac...

Re: What hardware are you using?

I update the spreadsheet in my signature today so that the hard drive column for all the laptops is a link to a benchmark (1G as it is the most common due to the best benchmarks) for that drive.

Re: The weather has been crazy

it's RAINING!!! And it's supposed to rain all day!!! It's WONDERFUL!! It's also upper 60's, so not very cold at all. This is, honestly, about as cold as it gets during the day here except for a few days a year.

Re: Tis the season!!

Lenovo's been MOSTLY good for me. The A485 & T14 G1 AMD had issues on launch (the A485 MASSIVE ISSUES, and TONS of them), but the T495, T14 G2, T14s G3, K14 all were totally solid on release. This is my first HP that I've bought when it was still an active model since the 1020 G1 (which, BTW, wa...

Re: Tis the season!!

Got the laptop and all upgrades in. FInally really getting a chance to try it out. I'm underwhelmed. There's nothing really WRONG with it, but the BIOS is a steaming pile of dog-s**t. It utterly ignores several options regardless of what you set the option to. So my F-keys will ONLY work as F-keys w...

Re: Tis the season!!

I mean, technically the T580 can max at 64GB, so you have options if you REALLY want to go for some overkill. And don't mind spending significantly more on a single upgrade than the laptop cost. :D

Re: Tis the season!!

That is pretty darn good. My 512GB Vulcan Z Teamgroup drive arrived and I installed it. In use it seems alright(?). So anyway I downloaded KDiskMark to see how it would compare with yours. It is pathetic. Your numbers are ~15X higher than mine across the board. Damn you, now I just second class. :)...

Re: Tis the season!!

Got the Mushkin Vortex Red installed. The ram I'm waiting for, it was supposed to be delivered today according to UPS, but it's a UPS > USPS delivery again. So while the LAST one was quick, the 3 before that all added 3-4 days to the delivery time, so I'm expecting Thursday or Friday to get my ram. ...

Here as well. It's wonderful to not have to deal with others.
