Re: Fedora vulnerability

Ars noted that the vulnerability in the compression routines in the xz Utils was included in Debian Testing as well. So many low level utilities are spread across Linux and BSD that minor glitches in the software end up impacting many OSes. I know that xz Utils are part of Mac OS, Haiku also has tha...

Re: Godzilla x Kong

I am a firm believer that monster movies really should need to cheesy. I think a person tends to get over monsters when they are about 8 and realize there is nothing under the bed or in the closet. From that point on monsters should be cheesy and fun and remind us of the silly beliefs we once held. ...

Fedora vulnerability

Today Fedora magazine had a post the system tools included in the latest Rawhide builds as well as the Beta builds for Fedora 40 contain a vulnerability and they should not be used until patched builds become available. <http://fedoramagazine.org/?action=user_content_redirect&uuid=90ebe02ff2c7eb...

Re: Kubuntu powered by Trinity

Q4OS introduced me to Trinity and I am grateful for that. I gave them the donation they asked for and gave them another when I put it on the Pinebook arm laptop. It was a nice seamless experience to get it up and running. As I became more familiar with Trinity I noticed that Q4 had removed or replac...

Kubuntu powered by Trinity

My 2008 MBP will run just about any distro based on Ubuntu 22.04. I installed Kubuntu 22.04 which runs decent. I then followed the directions on the Trinity website for installing Trinity on Kubuntu. It went without a hitch and when the system restarts you are greated with a "Kubuntu powered by...

Re: VLC

I may have spoke too soon. At first try this morning I got nothing. After a couple tries it came on, but I am not sure what was up. The codec seemed all messed up. I was just getting clicks beeps and an occasional garble. Then a few minutes it came through pretty clear. That is not uncommon with str...

Re: VLC

I was listening to the stream I had posted for a bit and decided to give the streams you mentioned, Chris, a try. I copied the url and pasted into VLC and poof a couple seconds later it began playing. I have no clue why I was having troubles earlier, but VLC is working fine now with your stations. I...

Re: VLC

Well Chris I got the streams up and running in Amrok on the Trinty DE, so geofencing is not the root of the problem I am having in VLC. have not yet installed VLC on this setup, but will give it a go in a bit.

Re: When did the UK go metric?

The organ shop worked in metric. Metric units are easier to work with and in mfg supplies and parts often originate from metric only sources. I think most mfg in the US is based around metric. Construction still revolves around feet and inch and dimensional stock is sold in feet and inches. Surveyin...

When did the UK go metric?

I had started something about weather, then stopped when I got to "F" as opposed "C" and got sidetracked. As a kid I grew up near a military base up by the Canadian border. At that time the Canadians sold gas in imperial gallons, which were slightly larger than US gallons. Temper...
