Re: Plasma 5.25 released

I've never seen it request a reboot before doing updates before myself. I like Neon to an extent. I would absolutely adore it if they'd just rebase on Debian instead of Ubuntu. :D But yeah, I do still keep that one laptop running it because it is nice to have a debian-esque system running the latest...

Re: What hardware are you using?

The Latitude 5420 I just bought is pretty good for the price. 11th gen so very much supported, was right around $400 for an i7 w/ 16GB ram and a 256 NVMe SSD. I threw in another 16GB for 32GB (was surprised it was 1x16, not 2x8) and swapped in one of my 1TB spares, but would still run absolutely wit...

Latitude 5420

So, this has arrived, along with the ram upgrade. Intel Core i7 1145G7 32GB DDR4 (upgraded) 1TB Sabrent Rocket-Q NVMe (upgraded) Intel AX201 Wifi6 + BT 5.x 1080P 14" Running EndeavourOS. Works great, not a single issue with the hardware. For being only a quad core CPU, it's more responsive than...

Re: Plasma 5.25 released

I have been playing with homebrew on the Mac. Homebrew is also available for Linux, and the Linux sub-system for Windows. In operation it is not too different from Arch's AUR. I think technically it brings the BSD ports tree to whatever system it is installed on. Source code is downloaded, using na...

Re: Dell G5 SE 5505

This machine has been posted on Craigslist for sale. Still just not enough of a fan of the gaming laptops to keep it. Offering it at what I think is a pretty good price for the specs it currently sets at (32GB ram & 1.5 TB NVMe SSD). Ordered a good priced refurbished Latitude 5420 w/ i7-1145G7 t...

Re: Plasma 5.25 released

Yeah, I looked at the workspace switcher, and I see no changes in functionality myself from 5.24.5

Re: The weather has been crazy

It's been 110+ most of this week, but actually not bad today. It's TOTALLY cloudy and looking like it wants to rain, so it's actually not bad at all outside. Just got home from doing my laundry, and I sweat more putting it away than I did the entire time I was at the laundramat.

Re: Plasma 5.25 released

Further updates. I played around on the desktop to see if I could find a way to get pinning to work properly. It apparently isn't possibly anymore to set individual package pins if you're using a Package: * stanza to set repository level pinning. However, I did find a much easier way to upgrade. Go ...

Re: Plasma 5.25 released

So far kinfocenter is the biggest thing I've noticed...it's like actually WORTHWHILE now. It tells you the actual MODEL of your laptop now, has a button to get your serial number. Finally making it somewhat useful given they removed the ability to reduce the huge size of the window. I'll have to che...

Re: Plasma 5.25 released

So just to test how realistically it would be to do it going forward, installed 5.25 from experimental on my 7415. MASSIVE amounts of work to get it installed and working on a bullseye machine instead of sid. I was successful, but not sure if I'd bother doing it going forward.
