Spending more time with Windows than expected

Between clients, friends, family, gaming and eventually my work after retirement, Ive been spending a lot more time with Win10. Its hard to avoid, even though Ive tried to do just that for the last two years. Its an intrusive ecosystem that doesnt give you a lot of choice. Just the fact that my wife...

Re: OpenMandriva Lx 4.2 RC released

Already aware of the nature of ARM devices but being able to avoid 5.6gb for a smaller image was the point I was trying to make.

Re: What hardware are you using?

I was able to get Win10 directly installed, first by doing a base Win7 install then upgrading to Win10 20H2 which didnt take too long. Then you add your apps, settings, extras, updates and optimize the drive. Much longer process then installing Linux but I clone my drives to similar hardware which s...

Re: What hardware are you using?

Win10 runs very well on th e Dell E4300 but it isnt faster than Linux and uses far more resources. Q4OS KDE boots faster, runs faster and only uses 419mb at GUI. You get use to Chrome OS as I use it all the time with my Chromebox/Chromebook. It requires a different mental approach and learning to do...

Re: OpenMandriva Lx 4.2 RC released

OpenMandriva has been a bit of a mess the last two versions. Typically they have a smaller installation version similar to what Mageia does, so you might want to check. 5.6gb is ludicrous for an iso.

Re: What hardware are you using?

Might try to do a straightup install of Win10 and see if any problems crop up. I originally tested using a Win10 hard drive from my E6420 laptop.
