Re: OpenMandriva Lx 4.2 RC released
Ok, there are a few problems and things to be aware of. First off use the software repository selector to enable certain repos you may want or need. Also in Discover, click on settings and be sure that that all necessary repos are enabled. Discover has some issues such as sometimes stating there are...

For January the weather has been moderate with mostly temps in the 40s to 50. How long it will last I dont know but hoping we might make out thru February.

Re: OpenMandriva Lx 4.2 RC released
Its interesting as they offer Discover and DNF as package managers but Discover is the only update manager(they dont support Urpmi) and it handles Snap/ Flatpack plus it offers a software center. The installer is Calamares and time there werent any issues with installing over a previous install on t...

Re: OpenMandriva Lx 4.2 RC released
I tested it on the much older E4300 and it runs extremely fast, spotted the older hardware, even the wifi and its working fine. The network manager is the typical KDE version, not Net Applet used with Mageia and PCLinuxOS, which I prefer. Im impressed at this point and its nice to have a nostalgic a...

Re: OpenMandriva Lx 4.2 RC released
Installed it tonite on my Dell E6420 and its the best version theyve created and is an excellent distro. Installation was simple, welcome center greets you at GUI and allows you to install some apps right away that you might need. Discover came up and I updated the install but DNF Dragora is also av...

Re: PCLinuxOS with Trinity Desktop
Most of the PCLOS community distros are minimalist installs so you have to add a few things, just as I had to do with the official Darkstar KDE version. Its nice to have such a great selection of apps that you dont always get with other RPM distros like Mageia. Ive used Thinkpads a long time ago but...

Re: What hardware are you using?
Figured out why the Dell E6400s wouldnt boot with some distros, Mageia 8 in particular. The bios in these laptops doesnt have virtualization/direct I/O enabled so the OS starts up looking for it and when it sees its off wont boot at all. Turn it on in bios and the system starts up normally and perfo...
