Re: Video card situation
Yeah, probably the ideal upgrade given the size and power constraints.

Re: Video card situation
OH, staying in the 200's you're not really looking to upgrade to a new card. There's nothing in that MSRP range that's a hardware upgrade from your RX570. You'd be looking at RX 6400's, which is SIGNIFICANTLY weaker processing than your RX570, although also uses 70-watt, so doesn't require external ...

Re: VM Manager PPC architecture
Oh, I assumed you knew about the qemu-system-ppc since it's also required for the virt-install creation as well. I haven't seen the architectures drop down on new VM creation screen ever, maybe just missed that (I do have foreign architecture VM's occasionally, generally ARMv9 although the very poor...

Re: Video card situation
I don't know, if you don't go too high, the RX 6600 (MSRP $320) can be found <$340. Even found a sale on ebay for a brand new one for $330. RX 6600XT (MSRP $380) can be found for $390. So while it's not GREAT prices, it's definitely possible to find the newest generation for NEAR To MSRP now. The RX...

Re: Fedora 36 released
I updated my VM on my work laptop to 36. Went smoothly. I don't care for Gnome 42. But it's for work, so whatever, it's functional so it'll stay.

Re: VM Manager PPC architecture
TO MY KNOWLEDGE, if you're using virt-manager as the gui, there is no way to create a foreign architecture VM. You can create it via the command line (virt-install --arch=ppc<whichever it is> <rest of options>) and then start it and manage it via virt-manager, but I'm not aware of a way to actually ...

Re: Nvidia...yes, NVIDIA announces they're open sourcing their GPU drivers
I'm just talking in regards to pure performance. AMD hardware was WAY behind Nvidia for a while. Picasso came close-ish (Picasso overclocked, aka 500 series, came even closer). Vega was closer, and Vega64 even scored a (very) few wins against it's direct competitors (although was more expensive due ...

Re: Nvidia...yes, NVIDIA announces they're open sourcing their GPU drivers
I personally feel that AMD's drivers have never been better since AMD bought out ATI. The old ATI proprietary drivers were UTTER garbage. AMDGPU works well for games. It sucks for OTHER 3d applications (CAD, video mastering, etc), but works good with games. The hardware itself is improving again, AT...

Re: What hardware are you using?
I've already grown tired of the gaming laptop I bought. My chest (ok, my boob) hurt for several days after using it at night with it propped on my chest.

Nvidia...yes, NVIDIA announces they're open sourcing their GPU drivers
More here . Definitely something that falls in the category of utterly unexpected. Like, 100% caught off guard by this. Ultimately, this will force AMD's hand as far as driver quality. They could pretty much guarantee that anyone who REALLY was dedicated to open source would purchase AMD GPU's if th...
