Re: My best Debian based distros 2022
For me it's not snarky, it's that most of the distro's that are based on Debian have themes I dislike, add lots of cruft I don't want or like, so they're worse than base Debian Netinstall to me. Want ultralight? Debian Netinstall and install Awesome/fluxbox/i3/fvwm + LightDM. Want full featured? Deb...

Re: What hardware are you using?
Oh, easily. In my desktop I have 3.5 TB. My laptops (not counting the one for sale) I have 14 TB (6x2TB + 2x1TB), and in external enclosures I have 8 TB (2x2TB + 4x1TB) so about 25TB of SSD storage. Plus my NAS which has 16TB before RAID & formatting, ~11TB (10.9TB if you wanna get really exact)...

Re: What hardware are you using?
I don't even have 1 TB taken up on my NAS, so definitely no chance of my filling one. Despite that, I have 6 2TB in my machines, and another 2 TB in USB enclosures. Along with 4 1TB in USB enclosures. I have far more storage than I can hope to use.

Re: What hardware are you using?
So as a test I took and backed up my /home on my T14 G2 AMD system onto this (rsync -avz). ~75 GB (steam). It must have pseudo slc cache, because it never slowed down, and backed it up in QUITE good speed. So I'm definitely happy with my purchase that I've been able to test so far.

Re: What hardware are you using?
If I still had more laptops that used m.2 SATA, I'd probably buy a few more myself now that I know they're "real".

Re: What hardware are you using?
As a matter of fact yes, because I hadn't clicked on "confirm receipt" yet. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804817836040.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.4e3318024ceqVK&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US I can say that this seems like a great value drive. It's not ...

Re: What hardware are you using?
It's YMTC (chinese company) chips with a chinese controller. Dramless. So 100% chinese manufacture.
Edit, I did some googling, and it's actually a Realtek controller. RayMX by Realtek. Probably the RM1135, but the actual model is illegible.

Re: Top ten best music players in Linux
Same on Clementine. I actually like Clementine better than Strawberry, but Clementine hasn't had a release since 2016 (2018?), while Strawberry is quite actively developed still. So made the switch. Rumor is that Clementine development has started again and there will be a release this year.

Re: What hardware are you using?
I got my 980evo in. If you dont' remember, this is a chinese knock-off SATA drive 2TB that is designed with the colors and basic look of a Samsung. They can get away with it because Samsung never released a 980evo drive. All testing shows it's a genuine 2TB SSD. For $35 after shipping, that is one h...
