Re: Linux Mint 6 LMDE released

I follow that logic. I appreciated bug fix updates. Sometimes feature updates, are more annoying than helpful. I did not know that XFCE started being like CDE, and maybe if I knew that back when, I would have looked more closely at XFCE. I keep a VM of Solaris 9 going just to use CDE. CDE as far as ...

Re: Linux Mint 6 LMDE released

Just out of curiosity why did you pick LMDE over just using Debian with the Cinnamon DE?

New Raspberry Pi 5 announced

Raspberry Pi foundation has announced the release of the Raspberry Pi 5. It will be available in October. It looks like it gets a pretty good speed bump and an independent I/O chip. The full announcement can be read at <https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/introducing-raspberry-pi-5/> I would like to up...

Re: Garmin Express Downloader

I came across this article which specifically talks about using Garmin with Linux. <https://www.systranbox.com/getting-the-most-out-of-garmin-express-on-linux-an-in-depth-guide/> I am not familiar with Garmin devices so I have no clue whether this is useful or not. I gather Garmin has a web interfac...

Setup KDE graphics work station

This tutorial is a couple years old, but is still a very nice guide for setting up a graphics work station using KDE desktop. <https://www.davidrevoy.com/article913/fedora-36-kde-spin-for-a-digital-painting-workstation-reasons-and-post-install-guide> The setup is based on the Fedora 36 KDE spin, but...

Re: KaOS 2023.09 released

This release is a refresh of the July release with current software updates and patches. It adds no new features. KaOS is a strange distro to me. It uses the XFS file system, I guess because it is the oldest file system that is still actively maintained. I think they also use it because it works wit...

Re: How to turn off KDE Wallet

This link showed up in the Kubuntu Focus news letter today. It covers integrating "secrete keeping" applications in KDE. <https://kfocus.org/wf/passwords.html> I have always just used the KDE Wallet when using the Plasma desktop. This covers that, but also covers using other secret keeping...

Re: The three distros Im using most

I have always thought the ideal OS would be self maintaining or self regulating. I personally do not know about the inner workings of an OS to know whether or not it is secure or current or what the dangers of sticky where I am or updating or downgrading might be. Applications for me are a different...

Re: This surprised me on swapping hard drive.

Live and learn I guess. That is convenient for testing things out, but I am not sure I would want that for my main secure system. I will need to think this over some more. Makes me glad though for all my reqular working hardware I have my drives encrypted.

I love that. It created such a cascade of delightful images in my head, I just had to chuckle. No offence intended, I hope you have and keep your blood pressure at a respectable level.
