Recommendation for photo printer.

I have an HP 8710 Office Jet Pro, which does a nice job of printing office type printing, duplex, collation and such are all excellent. It also has very nice scanning functions, however it is really poor at photo printing. I would like to find a decent inexpensive photo printer. I should handle 4x6 ...

Re: The weather has been crazy

The heat blanketing the south is pulling down cold air from Canada. This is insuring we get rain everyday and keeping the rivers flooded. But our temperatures have been very nice. It has started is the coolest July on record here. Is this something of a global phenomenon? Do you get heat domes in Eu...

Re: Windows 7 bits and pieces

Thanks for the link. My only Windows install is Windows 11 and I miss MSPaint, Solitaire and Wordpad. For me they were the three killer apps that came with Windows. On Linux I still always install a MSPaint clone. The old Solitaire was a delightful time waster, time killer. Wordpad was very much lik...

Re: AI integration coming to Firefox

I do not understand AI, or what it is people expect from AI. It does seem to me if you are looking for a useful personal assistant tool, it follows that the assistant needs to have access to personal data. A lawyer, banker, secretary, administrative assistant, financial advisor or even perhaps wife/...

Re: EndeavourOS 2024.06.25 released

Endeavour OS runs nicely on the 2010 MacBook Pro. I did discover that the wayland session does not work, but the X11 session works very well. I am now wondering if the problems with Linux on the machine are related to wayland. I gravitate to Gnome which for sometime has defaulted to Wayland. A KDE i...

Re: The weather has been crazy

The river is still high and flooding. Yesterday afternoon my son stopped by after his shift and we grabbed a couple camp chairs, took a long detour across the river to a nice landing. We spent a couple hours just sitting smoking a cigar, chatting and watching the river flow by. Saw a small turtle sl...

Re: The weather has been crazy

Well all the rain is making for flooding. The only way out of town is to the west and it is about an 40 miles to get back to and across the river to head east. The Rapidan Damn is overtopped and it is expected to breach today. The pictures are quite amazing. The water just flowing over the top and a...

Re: Is 2024 the year of Windows on the Desktop?

The laptop I fiddled with a week ago was backing up to OneDrive. My assumption was she had set that up, but knowing her for years it struck me as being out of character. Looking at the article makes me think now that she was probably just pushed into it without realizing it. It is a sad trend. I do ...

Re: The weather has been crazy

The heat dome has been moving to the south of us, but has been extensive enough that it is pulling down Arctic air over us and making lots and lots of rain. We have had 13 inches over the last for days and they are calling for 20 inches over the next 4 days. I guess that means the river will flood f...

Re: DevHome installing on Win11 without permission

That is the way of the world I gather, mostly products and certainly commerical. When I was young, cars were basic and everything was an add-on update, but over time the choice disappeared and you just got what they were selling. We could choose 3 or 4 speed manual transmissions or a slick automatic...
