Re: MX-18 Won't Boot

Geforce 6150 LE shouldnt be an issue as I had a Geforce 5200 that ran with the 4.19 kernel with no issues. Run the MX19 beta 3 live dvd and see what happens.
I use to have two laptops with similar specs and both ran fine with newer kernels.

Re: MX-18 Won't Boot

Nouveau does a nice job of supporting even older Nvidia cards as Ive got some. Thats why I suggested trying AntiX as it uses the 4.09 and works well with much older systems and is the cousin of MXLinux. Many distros though continue to use 4.15.

Re: MX-18 Won't Boot

MX19 changing kernels should be done from the MX package installer app, move down to kernels on the list. Mint you do it from the Update manager and its very easy and they have the 4.15 available.

Re: MX-18 Won't Boot

I would assume they would support the 4.15 kernel as Ubuntu still offers it and its available on Mint as well. The advantage to AntiX is they offer the 4.09 at boot so you dont really have to worry. I havent tested MX19 yet as its on Beta 3 presently. AntiX is specifically designed for older compute...
